Demining

Azar Oilfield is situated at the border near Mehran in Ilam Province, an area heavily impacted by the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), with many regions contaminated by mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). To prevent accidents, in line with SAED’s policies, all personnel are required to complete a Mine Risk Education (MRE) course before commencing work on site.

To date, approximately 4,000 person-hours of MRE training have been provided to personnel and visitors at Azar Oilfield. Reflecting its humanitarian commitment, SAED has also offered over 1,000 hours of MRE courses to local tribes and students in nearby areas. Additionally, at the request of the State Welfare Organization and the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the company’s experts have conducted around 1,200 hours of training for roughly 600 instructors from these organizations.

Notably, SAED's efforts in humanitarian mine clearance have earned recognition, with the company being registered as the first oil company worldwide to engage in this activity by the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in Switzerland.
