The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) awarded the development contract for Azar Oilfield to a consortium comprising Ahdaf Investment Companies and OIEC, within the framework of buy-back agreements. The contract became effective in April 2012. To implement the project, this consortium established Sarvak Azar Engineering and Development Company (SAED) in 2012. This company was formed to undertake operations related to the development of the most complex oil field in the Middle East, which is shared with Iraq. Another goal of its establishment was to create a capable entity for the execution of similar projects in the future. Following SAED's success in developing this highly complex field, the company's shareholders decided to shift its strategic focus, leveraging the ten years of experience gained during the development and exploitation of Azar Oilfield. After passing the required assessment processes, the company joined the ranks of those with exploration and production (E&P) capabilities. Future plans include the development of hydrocarbon fields.

Sustainable development involves integrating economic, social, and environmental goals to maximize current human well-being without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Corporate sustainability is an approach to business that aims to create long-term value for all stakeholders. This approach considers all functional dimensions of the business—including social, cultural, economic, and environmental aspects. In light of SAED’s macro strategies and its leadership’s focus on sustainability, the company has organized its extensive activities in a way that not only ensures legitimate profitability and maximizes the positive impacts of its actions, but also minimizes potential negative effects. SAED does more than that: as a responsible and influential member of society, it pays close attention to the long-term needs of the community.
